05 DECEMBER 2002

Here is a summary of what Damon had to say during his interview on The Evening Session yesterday night. Credit: chris@dgoymer.freeserve.co.uk. Picture credit: BBC Radio 1.

Don't Bomb When You're The Bomb- "It was just a really stupid little demo... it's a soundbite...it might or might not be on the record...it doesn't give any indication of the sound of the record... just felt like it should be released... it was released later than planned because the first pressings were left at Brighton train station with the word 'bomb' on top, so the police carried out a controlled explosion of the box."

Graham- "Graham's made a very good decision for himself to have a quieter life... I still want to make music to be heard by everyone, perhaps that was the difference...I miss one of my oldest friends, but then again I don't miss him because I'm just getting on with life... there were times when it was like the old band playing together but there were too many times of mismatches and confusion."

The album- "There're about 25 tracks... possibly give another album away free after the first one- that's something we're thinking of... it's primarily produced by Ben Hillier... there are times when Graham's guitar parts are very apparent... "

Gigs- "Might do a few gigs in America with Massive Attack...got to find a guitarist for playing live...never going to be able to replace Graham...I would love to play live if we can find someone...if we find a guitar player we definitely will."

Blur finished the new album??!! Almost! Here's the latest from nme.com: nme.com/news/103641.htm.

22 NOVEMBER 2002

Here's a bit of news about the new Blur album, courtesy of nme.com. I'm a bit late, as usual, but that's alright... nme.com/news/103555.htm.

13 NOVEMBER 2002

I just got an interesting email about Blur's new single! It's entitled "Don't Bomb When You're The Bomb" and it will be aired on 104.9 Xfm after 4:00PM TODAY during the Zoe Ball show. This is for London fans only, I believe. I'm not sure where else Xfm is aired, but if you've got the station, definitely tune in! I have also heard that the single is at certain record shops already! For more information, visit xfm.co.uk/. A short clip has been linked on the Main page.

Here is some news on Damon courtesy of nme.com:
MASSIVE ATTACK's new album features a guest appearance from mainman 3-D’s pal BLUR's DAMON ALBARN. The long-awaited follow-up to 1998's 'Mezzanine' is now complete, and due for release in early 2003. Robert ‘3-D’ Del Naja has recorded much of the record alone, and has recruited a host of guest vocalists, including Sinead O' Connor and Horace Andy. Albarn has recorded a part for an as-yet-untitled song that will feature on the record. However, he isn't credited. There are also rumours of Blur and Massive Attack playing shows together next year, although nothing is confirmed. This year, Albarn and 3-D have been working with CND in a campaign to prevent US-led attacks on Iraq.

18 OCTOBER 2002

"Blur have made a film documenting their time in Morocco. Blur, minus guitarist Graham Coxon, spent just over a month in Marrakech with producer Fatboy Slim finishing their latest album. The band are expected back from north Africa later this month. Now, a short film, 'Blur - Out And About In Morocco' has been posted on the band's official website, blur.co.uk. The clip shows the group recording, as well as various scenes of the African way of life. The new album, which is currently untitled, is due for release next year." - credit: nme.com. 17 OCTOBER 2002

I know this isn't Damon related, but I'm sure most of you have been keeping up with the whole Graham leaving the band thing, right? Well, it seems that nme.com has posted some more news up. Check it out: www.nme.com/news/103224.htm. I really don't know what to think anymore. Has it really happened? Graham NOT IN Blur? How can Blur be Blur without Graham? It just doesn't make sense anymore. I never thought this would ever come. I can't believe it! I think everyone is in denial here...

Yup... more rubbish on the whole Graham thing. It's getting kinda lame. www.nme.com/news/102852.htm. I really don't believe any of it at all. That Graham has really left the band. Blah blah... especially when Dave has been saying everything is fine with the band. That it hasn't been better.

04 SEPTEMBER 2002

Watch Damon live for free! "Damon is to showcase tracks from his 'Mali Music' album in a London record store. As previously reported, in July 2000 Albarn travelled to Mali and recorded what was to become 'Mali Music' with local musicians. The album was released earlier in the year to raise money for Oxfam.

Now, Albarn and collaborator Afel Boucoum will be at Tower Records in Piccadilly Circus on May 28 from 6pm, performing acoustic tracks from 'Mali Music'.

The pair will also sign copies of the album." Wish I could be there...
